Current work
Hannes Rennau is a PhD-student at the IOW (since 2006) and working in the project QuantAS-Off (Quantification of water mass transformations in the Arkona Sea - Impact of Offshore Windfarms; BMU -Project, 2005- ).
The main research questions are: Realistic model simulations of the Western Baltic Sea to quantify natural mixing of dense bottom plumes and potential additional mixing induced by Offshore Windpark (Kriegers Flak, ...), high resolution model nesting (300x300m of the Arkona Sea) to investigate 3D structure of gravity currents, passive model tracer to investigate propagation time of gravitiy currents in the western Baltic Sea, numerical mixing analysis in the applied model and development of two-layer-model: http://code.google.com/p/two-layer-model/
