Working group Microbial Plankton and Biogeochemistry

Our lab focusses on the life of microbial plankton in brackish and marine habitats. We are particularly interested in the linkage between microbial activities and biogeochemical cycles in the water column. Our observational and experimental approach spans from microscopic, single-cell analyses up to flux measurements on ecosystem-scales. The ultimate goal is to link microbial identity with their activity and function in the pelagic zone.
