„I have started my PhD in 2015 with the aim to better understand diversity patterns and the spatial heterogeneity of reef assemblages in the Baltic Sea. The focus is on hard-bottom associated epibenthic fauna and vegetation within MPAs in the German exclusive economic zone. I will use a range of approaches, including common sampling by grab, dredge and SCUBA diving, as well as novel high-resolution seafloor imagery with a passive towed platform.”
Research interests:
- Benthic community analysis
- Temperate rocky reef ecology
- Marine conservation
- Monitoring of hard-bottom assemblages
- Seafloor imagery and image analysis
