The Ocean Talents project is developing a concept for the promotion
of talents and skilled workers in the professions of marine and underwater technology
along the entire educational pathway in a cosmopolitan, international orientation
of the training. With the involvement of regional partners (e.g. IHK, Network
network), the University of Rostock and the Leibniz Institute for
Baltic Sea Research Warnemünde will use existing potentials
in the areas of study, training, work experience and
also school and develop new concepts from this. In the short and
medium term, an IHK certificate course (AP1), a newly developed
course in marine technology (WP2) and summer schools at the University of
Rostock University (WP4) should increase the number of qualified workers. In AP5
pupils will be introduced to the topic by differentiated teaching
at an early stage, while WP3 checks together with experts possibilities of workers exchange in the
OTC cluster of the future. In particular the
coordinated development (WP6) involving all age, experience and
educational pathways demonstrates the new and holistic
approach to securing skilled labour. This potential will trigger
additional companies to settle in the region and thus contribute to the economic
strength and to Rostock's position as a location for business, research
in the long term.
