Michael Böttcher, Deputy Head of the Marine Geosciences Department and Head of the Geochemistry and Isotope Biogeochemistry Working Group at the IOW, has been accepted as a new corresponding member of the Göttingen Academy of Sciences and Humanities in Lower Saxony in the Mathematics and Natural Sciences Class. The Academy is the oldest continuously existing institution among the eight scientific academies in Germany, which are now united under the umbrella of the Union of the German Academies of Sciences and Humanities. Its mission is to serve science through its own work and in co-operation with researchers and research institutions in Germany and abroad.

The certificates for the newly elected members were presented on July 4, 2025, in Göttingen. The IOW congratulates Michael Böttcher on his membership.
