BaltCoast: Ein Systemansatz für Küstenforschung und -management in der Ostsee

BaltCoast wird einen von Wissenschaftlern konzeptionierten ganzheitlichen und interdisziplinäreren Systemansatz („Systems Approach Framework“) so weiterentwickeln, dass dieser für die Benutzung im Integrierten Küstenzonenmanagement (IKZM) leichter anwendbar wird. Ziel ist die Schaffung von benutzerfreundlichen und praxisrelevanten Methoden und Werkzeugen, die es erlauben wissenschaftliche Erkenntnisse und politische Prozesse systematisch in das komplexe Management von Küstenräumen einfließen zu lassen. Neue Probleme, Herausforderungen und Aktivitäten in der Küstenzone sollen so interdisziplinärer als bisher bearbeitet werden können. Dieser Systemansatz wird in verschiedenen Fallregionen am Beispiel unterschiedlicher Managementthemen und -prozesse getestet (z.B. Klimawandel, Wirtschaftswachstum, Agrarpolitik, Erreichung von Umweltzielen des HELCOM-Baltic Sea Action Plans). Hierbei sollen alle Fallstudien den vollen Systemansatz durchlaufen, um diesen in seiner Eignung als Werkzeug für die Umsetzung nationaler und internationaler Küsten- und Meerespolitik zu testen und fortzuentwickeln.
