IT Group

To organize and ensure a stable and reliable IT infrastructure is the central task of the IT group. In addition, other tasks are performed such as the central data management in the IOW or the data processing for the BSH within the framework of the Baltic Sea Monitoring Program.

The group manages and optimizes the technical infrastructure that is needed for an effective scientific work. This applies particularly to the server environment (such as storage and backup) , the network including the external links on the X-WIN, central services such as e-mail (including virus and spam protection), FTP, WWW, fax, etc. as well as the public computer room and the public printer infrastructure. IOW employees are assisted in issues or questions regarding hard- or software procurement.
