  • biologisch bedingte Stoffumsätze und -veränderungen und entsprechende vertikale Transportprozesse vom Plankton bis zum Benthos. Für die Leitelemente Stickstoff und Kohlenstoff sollen Bilanzen und Stoffflußmodelle erarbeitet werden,
  • ökophysiologische und taxonomische Untersuchungen zur Interaktion zwischen Organismen und der Umwelt, inklusive Methodenentwicklung für die Erfassung von Schadstoffeffekten
  • Austausch zwischen den eutrophen und produktiven Küstengewässern mit den oligotrophen zentralen Bereichen sowie den durch teilweise anoxischen Abbau geprägten tiefen Becken
  • biologisches Monitoring der offenen Ostsee im Rahmen des Baltic Monitoring Programs der HELCOM
