Oxic conditions were observed in the bottom water of the Baltic Proper at all seasons in 1977. Exceptions are single stations in the northern and western Gotland Basins in November. The favourable oxygen conditions in 1977 are the consequence of the deep water renewal in 1976 (NEHRING & FRANCKE, 1980a).
