I'm interested in interactions between physical and biogeochemical processes and their sensitvity to climate change. Study areas are the shelf basins  in the high latitudes and their mass and energy exchange with the adjacent open ocean. I am employing models of varying complexity for the ocean, atmosphere and carbon/nutrient cycle to downscale global climate model output. Previous work focused as well on global climate modelling using an earth system model for simulations of the climatic past (last and present interglacials) as well as future projections of anthropogenic influence (IPCC scenarios).
