Research experience and scientific tools

  • Several field campaigns on scientific vessels (North Sea, Baltic Sea, Indian Ocean, estuaries in Australia, Indonesia and Europe)

    • more than 20 larger scientific cruises with more than 300 days on sea

    • CTD, ADCP, ADV, temperature- and shear-microstructure measurements

  • Realistic numerical modeling of lakes, estuaries and shelf seas using the General Estuarine Transport Model (GETM, www.getm.eu)

    • Segara Anakan lagoon, central Java, Indonesia

    • Baltic Sea, Europe

    • Lake Geneva, Europe

Research experience abroad

  • One year at the University of Western Australia (UWA) for the investigation of the physics of hypoxia in the Swan River, Western Australia

  • 6 months of field measurements in tropical estuaries and coral reefs on Java and Sulawesi, Indonesia

Acquisition of external funding

  • German Research Foundation (DFG) grant for a 3 year position in "The role of bottom boundary turbulence for the transport of tracers in marine basins (ROBOTRACE)"

    • including funds for 3 months stay at the Oregon State University (OSU), USA
