I am a physical oceanographer, currently working as a Post-Doc researcher at IOW with Dr. Lars Umlauf on submesoscale ocean dynamics based on the analysis of extensive observational data. This work is part of the DFG financed large-scale multi-disciplinary TRR181 project (https://www.trr-energytransfers.de/).
My Ph.D. dissertation discusses the real-ocean relevance of a variety of frontal instabilities and turbulence in submesoscale upwelling filaments based on the data collected from a research campaign in the Benguela upwelling system, with important consequences for the downscale transfer of energy among different processes and scales.
Beyond the research, I am also being a teaching assistant for the lecture on Hydrodynamics and Marine turbulence at the University of Rostock.
